Inês Mateus

For Inês, travel is less about the place than the people she meets and shares her experiences with, and the opportunity to explore cultural similarities and differences. One of her most memorable holidays to date was in Madrid and the Alentejo region of Portugal has a firm place in her heart, quite likely due to the local gastronomy. She was born in Viana do Castelo and studied locally, taking her degree in Communications and Journalism and Post-graduate in Marketing and Strategy at the University of Minho. She joined the PGW team in March 2018 after working in social media management and content creation for a local newspaper

Jyohanne Jobic

Born and raised in Paris, France, Jyohanne moved to the small town of Arcos de Valdevez in 2017 to get closer to her origins. She fell in love with Northern Portugal, and even if Islands and beaches are great places for her to relax, she feels much better near the Mountains. When traveling, she likes to immerse herself in the culture and history of the visited places. Always working with customer service, human relations are her priority. She spends a lot of time with her family and friends, but also likes to read, watch lots of movies and travel.

Tiago Faria

Another island lover, one of Tiago’s favourite destinations is Madeira, although the other is the very different Dubai. He finds that ‘going local’ and experimenting with typical foods and drinks are the ideal way to learn about the heart of a culture when travelling. Born in Barcelos, Tiago trained in Tourist Activity Management before joining the PGW team in 2018. In his spare time, he plays hockey and enjoys music.

MANAGEMENT

Camino de Santiago
    Chief Executive Officer
Paulo Lopes

Our founder, Paulo Lopes, comes from Coimbra and has a background in Systems Engineering, IT and Project Management. His real passion is for the outdoors, such as hiking in the mountains to connect with nature and holidaying in places of outstanding natural beauty. He loves to explore different cultures through food and treasures being surprised by seemingly insignificant encounters with local places and people. He captures these sights and experiences through photography, a long-time love that began with using his father’s camera at the age of 15.

Camino de Santiago
    Chief Operations Officer
José Augusto Azevedo

José Augusto is a huge fan of hiking and has followed the Portuguese Camino de Santiago trails more times than he can count and knows them like the back of his hand. He gets a kick out of discovering unknown corners and the local stories, flavours and traditions that bring places alive and make them so authentic and special. A Ponte de Lima native, he trained in agricultural science and local development and has been working in tourism since 2001. He’s been an indispensable part of PGW’s operations since 2013 and loves spending quality time with his two daughters when he’s not working.
